Square Enix announced that a new version of the game would replace it by the name of Final Fantasy Type-0 Online, slated for a release sometime in 2016 in Japan and eventually North America. Although Square Enix made promises of an eventual North America/Western release, the game was shut down in November, 2015 due to negative receptions and developers of the game could not go on with the current state of the game. The title came from Type-0's earlier title Final Fantasy Agito XIII. Final Fantasy Agito was a short-lived spin-off of Final Fantasy Type-0 that was available on Android and Apple iOS in Japan only (released on May 14, 2014).
